Preventing the Flu
For this project we chose to place our sticker at a local Walgreen’s “Flu shot” sign. We chose this location because it is in a centralized location with high traffic. Walgreens is a place where many people go; everyone knows about it. The bright color of the sign makes it easy for anyone to see and read. Walgreens is open to anyone around the community and everyone is pretty much allowed access to it. This makes it easier for anyone, especial those with out health insurance, to have acces to the flu shot for a very low cost. Seeing as how American health care is one of the most expensive medical systems in the world having access to such an inexpensive source of medical coverage. Many people in the United States do not have health care because it is expensive so it is beneficial for these people to have an opportunity to get vaccinated. This pertains to Public Health because it is a form of prevention. Vaccines are an important part of community public health because they lead to herd immunity which for the most part prevents the spread of disease. Easier access to the vaccine will surely get an increasingly larger amount of people who are immunized that the less likely the disease will spread. Vaccines are a form of primary prevenion because it heps avoid exposure to risk factors. This also inhibits people from going to doctors because they are taking precautions with regards to his or her health. This could also help a family because it will lower their medical bill and be less strainful when it comes time to pay bills. Even though cheap flu shots seem minimal in the scope of public health they have had a huge importance in the prevention of disease.

Interesting how this was my original idea to do the project, great minds think alike! I tremendously agree with you for this Walgreens is most certainly central idea. Also this Walgreens is very much so accessible to the community. I find it not only accessible but also just wonderful overall how the flu shot vaccination can be taken at such a nearby place like Walgreens. Due to flu shot being available in such places like Walgreens I could only hope that more people would take advantage of such services in hopes of living or maintaining healthy lives.
ReplyDeleteWalgreens is a great location for preventative measures against the flu virus. The flu shot is very beneficial within our community. There are many convenient locations for people to get the flu vaccination. I love how everyone is eligible to receive the vaccination, even without health insurance. This is a great way to prevent a disease at an affordable cost.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of bringing flu vaccination awareness. It is very important for the community to have access to flu shots. Receiving flu shots also help to decrease the number of people affected each year, especially the elderly. Walgreens also offers affordable prices!
ReplyDeleteI really loved this groups idea with the vaccinations at Walgreen's! I believe vaccinations are an very important health care measure for the protection of the people. Vaccinations are considered a primary prevention as well, so its vital for young children to get vaccinated to stay healthy. I also thought it was great because Walgreens is such a busy and centralized location that everyone knows about. Public Health is really making a difference in our society by helping people stay healthy, one little step at a time.
